Twenty-eight WIAQ athletes competed at the NSW Senior State Age Championships at Sydney Olympic Park from January 20th-25th. Despite many athletes swimming a reduced program, the team again finished among the top 10 clubs in the state, testament to their hard work over the summer since returning from covid. Some stand-out performances came from Kyah Shipley and Lachlan Cole, who both swam personal best times in every event they raced, and the girls' 12-17 4x100 freestyle relay team of Sydney Brown, Jaimie Delutiis, Jess Cole and Chelsea Jones, who won another state title. Swimmers were straight back in the training pool after this meet as they continue preparations for nationals, and we all look forward to seeing more fast swimming in Adelaide in April.
